Itinerary
Meal plan: Lunch, Dinner.
08:00 hrs. Your driver/guide will pick you up from your Nairobi area hotel, Nairobi airport or Nairobi area residence and head out in our 4 x 4 Jeep for Aberdare.
We’ll head out over the highlands of central Kenya and take breaks to see coffee and tea plantations.
There will also be a special treat – a stop at Karatina – the largest open-air market in East Africa.
The look of Aberdare Park is deep green, anchored by forested mountains and wild moorlands. You’ll be staying in a Tree Hotel with balcony views of the park and a nearby watering hole.
Look there for sightings of elephants, spotted hyenas, baboons and monkeys, buffalo, and warthogs.
Further, afield the park boasts sighting of the giant forest hog, golden cat, and the bongo, a large antelope.
Enjoy your evening with a treetops’ view of the wildlife below in this very different African wildlife park.
We will spend our first safari night at your choice of Treetops Lodge or The Ark. Note: only overnight bags are allowed at your tree hotel.
Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.
We’ll set out early for the scenic drive to Lake Nakuru Park, stopping to take in the towering majesty of Thompson’s Falls along the way at Nyahururu.
We’ll continue, viewing farm country and driving through the dramatic landscape of the Great Rift Valley.
Lake Nakuru Park will bring us up close to a bright assortment of birdlife, including flamingoes, cormorants, pelicans, and kingfishers.
But this park offers so much more – a large population of black rhino, endangered Rothschild’s giraffe, plus zebra, hippo, baboon, waterbuck, hyena, and sometimes lion and cheetah.
We’ll overnight here at your choice of safari lodge or tented camp.
Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.
Lake Nakuru is known for its robust birdlife so let’s rise early to enjoy the morning birdsong and the wildlife emerging from the night.
We’ll breakfast and depart for the Masai Mara, with stops at scenic vistas along the way.
You can always request your driver/guide to make special stops… or not, depending on your preferences.
We’ll get to the Masai Mara in time for our first game drive over its rolling hills, with picturesque acacia trees adorning the landscape.
While at the Mara, we’ll have plenty of time to track its seemingly endless array of wildlife – keep an eye out for lion as sightings are not uncommon.
This will be the first of two nights your Masai Mara accommodation.
Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.
Why is the Masai Mara so special? Lots of reasons – the beauty of the landscape with its golds and greens, the great density and variety of wildlife said to be the highest in the region, but also because it’s home to the Great Migration.
During the months of July through October, vast herds of gazelle, wildebeest and zebra invade the park over the Mara River searching for sustenance. The numbers of wildlife pouring in over a migrating season can be astonishing – up to 2 million!
We’ll enjoy a picnic lunch down at the Mara River, viewing hippo and crocodile, while in the hills, various predators lie in wait, acting out the timeless cycles of life.
Along with game drives and animal sightings, we offer other optional activities to make your experience here even richer. Meet the local Maasai people at their village and learn about their culture and their crafts. Perhaps purchase some of their brightly beaded souvenirs.
For a view that few on the planet have experienced, take an early morning hot air balloon safari over the park.
You’ll see the dawn breaking on the savannah and hear the first calls of birds and wildlife as the park comes to life. Not to be missed! Just ask your driver/guide to make the arrangements.
Our final safari night will be spent at your Mara accommodation.
Bid farewell to the Maasai Mara and Kenya after an early breakfast and a morning game drive as you cross the park viewing wildlife this morning.
Exit the park through Oloolo gate and onwards to Isebania border where there shall be a brief stopover for immigration formalities and early picnic lunch.
After the immigration formalities are done, you will meet your new driver from the Tanzania side and continue into the world-famous Serengeti National Park for late evening game drive en route to the lodge.
Serengeti National park is home to huge populations of wildebeest, zebras, and antelopes - the picturesque Serengeti is an excellent place to spot predators such as lions, leopards, and cheetahs as well as herbivores including elephants, hippos, and giraffes.
NOTE: This is a long day of driving from maasai mara to serengeti national park. Be prepared for a tiring day!.
Alternatively, there is an option of taking a flight from Maasai mara to seronera airstrip, which will save you much time, and long drives and you will be able to lunch at the selected lodge in serengeti if you opt for a flight option.
As an expert and an experience safari guide, I do recommend taking a flight if your pocket can allow you to do so. We cannot also deny the fact that road trip is also very adventurous though tiring.

You cannot miss to see the wall of mountain to the south – this is legendary Mt. Kilimanjaro, known as the “roof of Africa”, rising to 19,000 feet.
It’s the continent’s tallest peak and the highest free-standing mountain in the world. This is the backdrop to much of the park’s wildlife and always a gift to photographers, so have your camera ready for the next 3 days!
Amboseli is known for its relative ease in wildlife spotting. All of Africa’s Big Five are here as well as zebra, giraffe, cheetah, warthog, ostrich and many more.
Toward evening, the cloud cover obscuring Kilimanjaro’s snow-capped summit may clear, giving us one of Africa’s most striking vistas.

We like to rise early while on safari to set an adventurous tone for the day. We will watch the light breaking upon the park and catch the wildlife as it appears on the savannah.
Our next assignment: breakfast! Then another morning game drive through the park. One of the advantages of Amboseli is that the terrain is open with thin foliage. This makes the game spotting easier.
We will be watching for lion, leopard, and the park’s almost ever-present great parade of elephants. Seeing the magnificent elephants patrolling in line before the majesty of Kilimanjaro is a special treat of this reserve.
Do not forget to look for the smaller animals here like hyenas, foxes, jackals and monkeys. There is also a colorful variety of rich birdlife in the park – pelican, kingfisher, egret and heron are found near the park’s marshes and lakes.
Exit and drive back to the lodge for lunch and later exit and drive to Nairobi. It is also a time to dwell upon all the wildlife we have seen and experienced over our 10 Days best of Kenya and Tanzania Safari.
We will be back in town evening around 16:450 hrs and drop you off at your hotel, residence or the airport.
